New !!! Alvika is a dessert variety bred by V. M. Kalugin. It is a compound hybrid (Talisman x Velika). Alvika is a self-pollinating variety, medium early (115 - 125 days). Growth is strong with very good woodiness. Clusters conically cylindrical, loose, large and very large 700 - 1200 grams and larger. The berries are very large 20-30g, oval, purple, with no tendency to burst. The flesh is harmonised, rather neutral, tight, crunchy, very tasty. The variety accumulates a very high sugar content up to 19-20% with a very low acidity of 6-7g/l. The variety has a very high yield of 75-85%. Alvika is a very attractive variety for the trade, it is a variety with very nicely coloured huge fruits - often the size of a plum. Disease resistance good with frost tolerance down to -23°C. The variety is suitable for both amateur and commercial cultivation. The fruit tolerates transport and storage well. Grapevines grafted "Alvika" are of best quality.
